ABOUT US
Mindful Chess was founded in 2015 with the goal of improving access to chess coaching for children across London. We started off teaching a single group of 12 students once a week. Through schools and parents sharing information about our unique approach, our program has grown to now teach over 500 students a week. We are ltd company without share capital which means we are a not for profit where any profits are reinvested into improving the tuition we provide.
As well as our group lessons, we've recognised how productive 1:1 sessions are for adults and children. We therefore now teach individuals ranging from the age of 5 to 94 across 3 different continents.

CHESS COACHING FOR ADULTS
Our highly experienced coaches fast track your progress and improvement. For individuals new to the game we provide the key building blocks to create a solid foundation to your chess. For players looking to improve, we analyse your existing games and help you recognise new opportunities to capitalise on.
OUR CHESS CLUBS
Chess clubs for companies
Guided chess training at your workplace, suitable for groups ranging from 4 to 200 people, regardless of prior experience. Sessions are tailored to your team's size and skill levels, focusing on practical skills such as decision-making under pressure, maintaining focus, strategic planning, and emotional regulation.
School chess clubs
We partner with schools across the UK to deliver chess clubs for students aged 5 and upwards, typically running during lunchtimes or after school for 30 minutes to an hour. Our Enhanced DBS-checked instructors maintain a 1:12 teaching ratio and provide each student with a ChessKid account for safe online practice and puzzles.

For adults we can analyse prior and ongoing matches on chess.com or lichess. For children, we offer chess kid gold accounts to track progress.
Tailored Sessions
Everyone learns differently. We tailor our sessions to meet individual learning styles and interests of each person we work with.
HIGHLY SKILLED TEACHERS
All our teachers are exceptional chess players, with years of experience teaching. Many of the team have ELO ratings of over 2000.

The links between art and chess are well documented. Our teaching develops the creativity and strategic thinking of each player.

Our 10 year old Daniel has been doing 1 hour weekly for the last 3 months with Ollie Wilson. We’re now increasing to 2 lessons per week. Child’s improvement is quite spectacular. Daniel advanced from 4th /5th place in his year to winning a gold medal in last week’s competition. The lessons with Ollie are very structured and useful. I'm a late starter at the age of 45 and I've loved my coaching sessions with Andrew. I was stuck at 1050 after teaching myself over a year but with his help - showing me more enjoyable openings (Alekhine! Grand Prix Attack! Two Knights Caro-Kann! Advanced French with a pawn sac!), analysing my games together, working on endgames - I've improved to 1325 in just over a second year. He's relaxed, personable and funny rather than harsh which is exactly what I'm looking for. Strong strong recommend :)
